Day 32/365 My Baby Boy

I bought this onesie when I was 10 weeks pregnant.

Figured it would work for a boy or girl.

Only problem is by the time it gets warm enough to wear short sleeved onesies he will have outgrown it.

So he pretty much is wearing it for this picture :)

Time just flies. Don’t forget to capture it!

Almost 4

Taken with the Canon 50d, ISO 120, f/4.0, 75mm, 1/350, 28-75mm Tamron 2.8

I am a photographer.  I don’t have a business right now.  I don’t want one.  I probably want one later but right now I am a mom of 2 little boys & super pregnant with #3.  I don’t want to start a new business right now.  I want to shoot for fun.  I want to take pictures of my growing boys & the world around us.

Last  year I was able to travel a lot.  I was able to see some pretty cool places.  Now though my traveling has been put on hold for a while.  That’s ok though because soon I will have a newborn to photograph and of course his older brothers.

No matter what I do in the future, business or not I want photography to always be my passion.  I don’t want it to turn into a job that I hate.

2010 has been a harder year to take pictures.  We had the big overseas move in March and still aren’t 100% settled.  I am pregnant which slows me down a lot.  But since the fall has started I have tried to carry my camera more.  And I think it has been worth it.

No matter what kind of photographer you are, if you just got your 1st camera or not, keep taking pictures of your family.  It’s good for you and you can create wonderful memories.

See that guy up there?  He was really just a newborn yesterday it seems and now he is almost 4 getting ready to become a big brother himself.  Time just flies.  Don’t forget to capture it :)

Wide Open and the Lenses I Love

I got asked a couple of questions and I thought I would answer in this post.

“Wide open means the largest f/stop, right? Or in other words all the way at 1.8? Also, is that the Canon L series lens? If so, what do you think? If not, what is it”

“what does "wide open" mean? Just curious… :)

Shooting wide open means using the largest f/stop.  So on my 85mm 1.8, it would mean using 1.8.  If a lens is say a 5.6 lens then that would be what you would use to shoot wide open.

This was taken at f/4.o, SS 1/400 & ISO 100 with a 50mm 1.8

It wasn’t shot wide open but with a larger f/stop so you get the blurry background or smaller depth of field.

The larger the f/stop, the shorter the depth of field.

So if say I wanted to shoot a landscape I would want a smaller f/stop because I would want more to be in focus…and a larger depth of field.

A fun thing to do when you are starting to learn your camera is to take an object and shoot it at different f/stops and compare the pictures :)

As for lenses I don’t have any L lenses yet.  I mainly use the Canon 85mm f/1.8 or the Tamron  28-75mm f/2.8 .  Sometimes I use my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II.

I have heard that the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L is an amazing lens.  Maybe someday!
